Omega Watch Battery Replacement

How often should you replace the battery in your Omega watch?

It might be tempting not to replace the battery in your OMEGA watch until you absolutely need to, but by doing this there is always the chance that you might be causing irreversible damage to your treasured timepiece.

Every OMEGA watch is designed and built to stand the test of time while accompanying you through life, looking fantastic and telling the time with beauty and precision; but it will only perform to its best if it receives the best care and attention on a regular basis.

In terms of service frequency, this can depend on the use of the watch and the environment in which it is worn as some watches will require more attention than others depending on factors such as; how often it is used and the amount of time it is exposed to extreme conditions; but generally, we recommend a full OMEGA service is performed every 4 to 5 years. However, you shouldn’t wait this long when it comes to replacing the battery.

Battery is key to performance

An Omega watch is comprised of hundreds of moving parts, all working together to ensure it performs to its optimum level time-after-time and at the heart of this is the battery, which is key when it comes to accurate time-keeping, but not replacing this watch battery at the right time could prove to be incredibly costly.

That’s because, if the battery is left too long without being replaced then it could be at risk of leaking and causing damage to the movement and if that happens it will need to be fully serviced and the movement exchanged even if this is not due for a number of years.

Because of the risks involved we recommend that the battery in your OMEGA watch is replaced every 12-18 months in order to guarantee that is performing to its full potential and to minimize risk of further damage caused by leaks or corrosion and charge a flat fee of £48 (including VAT) for all replacements, which also comes with a full, two-year guarantee.

At Luxury Watch Repairs we can carry out a battery replacement & pressure testing (where applicable) while you wait at our service centre, usually within 20 minutes, though we do recommend leaving the watch with us for 24 hours to allow us to carry out sufficient time-keeping and battery consumption tests. If you’re sending it to us using our pre-paid postage pack, we will return the watch within 24 to 48 hours.
